Stadtmauer Faro | Die Festungsmauer von Faro (portugiesisch: Muralhas de Faro) umschließt die historische Altstadt, auch bekannt als Vila Adentro, in Form eines ovalen Rings. Die Ursprünge der historischen Wehranlage reichen rund 2000 Jahre bis in die römische Zeit zurück. Damit gehört sie zu den geschichtsträchtigsten Befestigungsanlagen der gesamten Region. Die Basis der Anlage wurde bereits von den Römern errichtet. Während der arabischen Herrschaft im 9. bis 11. Jahrhundert erlebte die Anlage tiefgreifende Umbauten.
